for real

Hiya

I’ve got some other work to do so this is gonna be rapid fire.

JC found a bit of a casting link at the NY times.

Jesse Wigutow, a writer who was recruited to adapt Fox’s latest “Tender Is the Night,” said his biggest challenge has been “translating the power and lyricism of Fitzgerald’s writing.

A glimpse at Mr. Wigutow’s initial draft reveals the introduction of Ernest Hemingway and Dorothy Parker into the story line, as if to underscore the real-life connection to the circle of expatriates with whom Fitzgerald hobnobbed in France, including Gerald and Sara Murphy, the privileged bons vivants who were as much models for the Divers as were Scott and Zelda.

Despite the historic links and period setting, Fox’s approach appears designed to snare young viewers as well as their parents. After all, when we first encounter the Divers, they are in their 20’s, and Rosemary, the ingénue with whom Dick has an affair, is a still a teen. A director has yet to be attached, but Fox’s casting wish list has ranged from Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Evan Rachel Wood to play Rosemary, to Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe, and Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts and Charlize Theron for the Divers.

According to Variety, Free Zone is going to be playing at the Hamburg film festival. On that topic, Kathleen sent in a couple scans from Film Comment magazine, which has some rather critical comments about Free Zone. Click here and here. Gotta say, Nat is a helluva good crier.

Sinta found a new pic of Nat arriving to the German premiere of EP3.

This is very odd. Starlets in chadors…click on “starlets”. Thanks to Sergio.

And finally, a bit more on the V delay. Thanks to Andy.
