Back to work, Portman! Okay, not quite, she’s probably got at least the rest of the year off if she wants it. However, Deadline are reporting that the Thor 2 rumours were true and the film will arrive in 2013. An exact date will be forthcoming soon, but it looks as though it will be later in the Summer.

Kenneth Branagh will not be directing but will serve as a producer.

Friends WIth Benefits

Before No Strings Attached settled on that title, it was called Friends With Benefits. Only, there was another film in development with the same title. That Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake starring film kept the name and the Natalie film changed to No Strings Attached.

Friends With Benefits opens soon and a trailer showing the comparisons between both films is absolutely hilarious…and a little sad at the same time.

Hesher On The Way

Hesher will arrive on DVD and Bluray on September 13 and a preliminary set of features have been announced.

Deleted Scenes
Outtakes
Cast and Crew Interviews
Sketch Gallery

Here’s hoping more features will announced in time, because that’s pretty slim pickings. Still, I can’t wait to catch up with this film, and I’m sure there are a lot of you in the same boat.

Teen Choice Awards

The nominations for the Teen Choice Awards, which will be held on August 7th, worked out pretty well for Natalie.

Black Swan is nominated for Best Drama, Natalie for Best Actress In A Drama, Mila Kunis for Best Scene Stealer, and Natalie and Mila are up for Best Liplock.

No Strings Attached was nominated for Best Romantic Comedy, Natalie for Best Actress In A Romantic Comedy, and Ashton got an acting nomination as well.

For drama Natalie is up against (LOL) Minka Kelly, AnnaSophia Robb, Leighton Meester and Reese Witherspoon.

For romantic comedy the competition is Jennifer Aniston, Ginnifer Goodoin, Emma Stone and Emma Roberts.

Of course there is plenty of love for Twlight and other awful films (5 nominations for The Roommate? You couldn’t TRY and make a film worse than that), so don’t get your hopes up.

Tidbits

A couple barrel scrapings for you guys today. Mmmm, barrel scrapings are the best kind of scrapings!

– Your Highness has made THR’s top 10 flops of 2011 thus far. Errr…congrats? It joins films like Green Lantern, Arthur (which opened on the same day) and Sucker Punch.

– Speaking of things that suck, Jay Leno did a Thor sketch. I’m not sure if that girl in the end is supposed to be Jane Foster, but let’s call it Natalie related all the same.

Tidbits

A couple really cool little tidbits for you today.

– Anne Thompson’s Liz Taylor/Dick Burton poll ended and Natalie finished in first place with 24% of the vote. I had to laugh at Anne’s comment

…despite being completely out of the running until June 24, Natalie Portman surged to the top…

I think we may have stuffed the ballot box as our post went up on June 23rd. Sorry!

– We’ve talked a lot about movies that Natalie was linked or attached to, that went on without her. In fact, we’re even running a poll about two of those films right now. A film we haven’t mentioned for awhile is Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, which is now starring Sandra Bullock. Jeffrey Wells spoke to Guillermo del Toro at a party and, man, I really really REALLY wish Natalie had been able to do this film.

He said that Cuaron and dp Emmanuel Lubezki (a.k.a. “Chivo”) are again intending to push the cinematic envelope, although in a different way than they did with Children of Men.

Hey, No Fair

Carlotto was boasting, and well he should, that the French are getting a ultimate collector’s edition of Black Swan. Get a load of this…

Ultimate collector edition with the Blu-ray, the OST, 6 postcards (teaser poster, theater poster and the four vintage posters), a 54 pages presskit, the teaser and theater posters (100x68cm) and Tchaikovky’s Swan Lake (2 CDs)

How do you say green with envy in French?

New Poll + Name Results

The new poll is about the two projects that Natalie was attached to (in the case of one officially and the other more loosely), both of which are ramping up and will probably go before cameras this year. I just want to know, if you had to choose, which project do you wish Natalie was still involved with?

Cloud Atlas vs Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

As for the poll about Alef possibly being the name of Natalie’s son, only 16% of you guys would be happy if that’s his name. Full results after the jump.

Looking For Liz

Deadline Hollywood is reporting that Emma Stone was offered but passed on Pride And Prejudice And Zombies. It sounds like the offer really didn’t even get far enough along for there to even be a report about it.

Who do you think they should be looking at to replace Natalie in the Elizabeth Bennett role? Maybe Natalie’s bff, Olivia Thirlby? Or if they need a bigger name, Emily Blunt?

No, you haven’t woken up in December 2010. The Academy of Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Horror, aka The Saturn Awards, are a mid year event and Natalie added yet another best actress win for Black Swan. Mila Kunis landed supporting actress and Inception kinda cleaned house in the other categories. Best of all? No Twilight!

Miss USA

I was vaguely aware of a new Miss USA being crowned, but my opinion begun and ended with “Oh, cool, she’s a redhead.” Having now heard that the winner, Alyssa Campanella, is a science nerd, a Natalie fan and was only one of two contestants (out of 51!!!) who told judges they believed in evolution…well, I’m kind of amazed they let her win but really happy they did.

Below is the excerpt, from People’s World, about Natalie.

Newser mentioned Academy Award-winning actress Natalie Portman, and noted that she was extremely knowledgeable about science. Portman made it to the semifinals of the Intel Science Talent Search, a research competition that has produced Nobel Prize winners. Portman went on to study neuroscience at Harvard.

The Ones That Got Away

Two films that Natalie was attached to, “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” and “Cloud Atlas”, are now moving ahead full steam.

Cloud Atlas, the adaptation of one of Natalie’s favourite novels, is being directed by former collaborators Tom Tykwer and The Wachowski’s. Tom Hanks, Hugo Weaving, Ben Whishaw, Halle Berry, Susan Sarandon and Jim Broadbent are on board. Natalie was loosely attached at one stage but the film will now shoot without her in Germany. Production begins in a few months and the film is set for an October 2012 release. It also has a $100 million budget and the writer of the novel seems quite high on what they’re doing with the material.

Pride And Prejudice And Zombies is also very much back on track, with the frankly awesome Emma Stone being offered the Elizabeth Bennett role that Natalie dropped out of. She’s such a great film and comic presence that my expectations for the film would immediately double if she signs on the dotted line. Natalie is still producing so let’s hope the project finally drags its ass into production. Read more at The Playlist.

Liz And Dick

A couple weeks ago we reported that Martin Scorcese beat out Natalie to the adaptation rights for Furious Love, the story behind the Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor relationship.

Now Indiewire’s Anne Thompson has indulged in a bit of fantasy casting, coming up with a bunch of actors and actresses for the lead roles. Natalie and Gerard Butler are one of the matchups.

Ditto for these two. If anyone can raise Portman’s temperature, it would be Butler. He’d have to step up and bring some depth to the rugged masculinity he so easily depicts. Portman probably has this in her, but it won’t come naturally.

You can check out the other casting suggestions and vote for Natalie over here.

Tidbits

We’ve got a real interesting batch for you today. Dig in.

– Let’s kick things off with a little bit of genital mutilation! Mayim Bialik, a former Jewish teen star on a show called Blossom (and yes, I am old enough to say I watched that show) and more recently, completing a PhD in neuroscience, has blogged about whether Natalie is going to have her son circumcised. Poor kid already has people blogging about his penis. Oy vey.

– An artist has done a Thor comic…with The Muppets. Jane Foster is played by Fozzie and OH MY GOD WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE THE MUPPETS SO MUCH?!?!

– Some dude from Dancing With The Stars wants Natalie on the show. Keep dreaming, buddy, the show should be more accurately called Dancing With The Used To Be Stars.

“After watching Black Swan, I think Natalie Portman would be amazing, since she can dance.”

Hesher Stuff

A big thanks to Amo for these finds, which start with a guy called Chris posting scans from a Hesher feature from Sweden.

In one of the scans you can just make out the DVD cover for the film, although whether it’s the cover that will be used in North America…I’m not sure.

But Amo also found two more instances of the cover. The version below is bigger, but looks a bit rough while this is tiny but really does look polished enough that it could be the North American cover.
