Get ready for Episode II DVD
So you've all ordered Episode II on DVD, right? Well you better, because if you don't, you shouldn't download the Episode II clips I'm gonna post over the next few days.

To blast things off, here is... The Gag-reel for Episode II. It's in piss-poor MPG condition (best I can do from where I'm currently at, but notice the filename, it says "tmp"! It's about 25 mb and spans for 2 minutes and 21 seconds.
Well worth the download if you wanna see Natalie telling Lucas that "this scene is rediculous, it'll never be in the movie" :)

Have fun!

And remember, that site only serves between 8 pm to 8 am Central European Time (which is 2pm to 2am New York time)!

 Ep. II deleted scene
Like Dazza, I believe that Natalie isn't to be blamed for any lack of brilliance in the Star Wars movies, we'll give Lucas the blame. Why? Because here we see that Natalie did do atleast one scene really, really well. And he cut it from the movie!

But he did include it on the DVD!
Deleted scene - Padme addresses the senate. This scene is right after the first assasination attempt, and you can see some friction growing between Padme and Palpatine! But it was cut because it was "too dialogue-heavy"!
And to compensate for yesterday, I've done it in the best quality possible with MPEG2, so you'll need a decoder for that. Most DVD software players (like Cyberlink PowerDVD, Intervideo WinDVD or the one that comes with the DVD, InterActual Player). The file is 35 megs big, runs for 1 minute and 53 seconds. I'll post a low-quality, VCD compliant MPEG later.
(as usual - downloads open 8 pm to 8 am CET)

Enjoy!

Feeling kinda lonely with a vodka and coke
Hey all

Having a nice chilled weekend (downloading music mostly) and thought I'd break up Kris' posts trying to get us put in jail, with this little tidbit.

i just got my new december issue of seventeen with kelly osbourne on the cover and there's a nat picture on p.56. it's for a perfume. It says: Ralph Lauren Glamorous Shimmer, $55
smells like: pears
attitude: sophisticated
theme song: "come away with me" by Norah Jones
always wears: Ralph Lauren wrap sunglasses
Celebrity Idol: Natalie Portman
dream guy: usher

Thanks to Natalie Hill.

Hehe, that's it. I was bored dammit...

 Why can't movies be longer?
Did you feel that the scene with Padme and Anakin arriving at the palace on Naboo was too short and the dialogue didn't really fit? Well, here is the ENTIRE scene which makes alot more sense!

It's the... "Extended Arrival at Naboo"!
File is 38 megs and runs for appx. 2 minutes. As usual, I recommend a software DVD player and as usual, server open 8 pm to 8 am CET. Tomorrow I'll get the wonderful scene with Padme introducering Mr. Lover-Lover to her family!

People have asked me to post everything at once. First off, I don't have time (tomorrow I got another Novell certification test!). And B - I'm not sure the server would handle it!

first, huge thanks to Kris for all the dvd clips!!

while downloading said clips, you may wish to take a 'gander' at the following Nat related links..

2 snail mail 'addys' of Nat's talent agencies:
1..
2..

this French website has an article [in French] about "Heads in the Clouds" which will be 'toplined' by these 2 actresses..

meanwhile, screendaily had a writeup that mentions, in part, a film featuring Nat that is facing difficulty in securing $$$ from French financiers..

my 2 cents?? 2 words: Vivendi Universal..

and finally, 2 writeups about Nat's new film "Cold Mountain," well ok, these writeups are about Nicole Kidman's plans to visit Dracula's castle in Romania, and making Thanksgiving turkey..
1..
2..

ok, now i'm hungry..

I have a bad feeling about this - UPDATED
I really whish this scene had been left in the movie. Not only is Natalie both hot and cute at the same time (look at those dreamy eyes at the end of the clip!), but also adds a little background to Padme as well as showing her resitance to seeing what is happening between her and Anakin.
Although she should have had more support for her breasts...

It's the... "Padme's Parents' House"-scene! Scene runs for about 2 minutes, and since some people have had problem watching the MPEG2 clips (I thought I made it clear you need a software DVD player/decoder!?), I've re-done all the clips to standard VCD compliant MPEG clips. Enjoy!

Gagreel : Low quality (25mb) or High quality (50mb)

Padme addresses the senate : Low quality (20) or High quality (35mb).

Extended arrival at Naboo : Low quality (20mb) or High quality (38mb).

Meeting the family : Low quality (24mb) or High quality (48mb).
UPDATE : Seems like there was some trouble with the new clips, but now they should work!

 The bedroom scene
This is the scene right after the "Meet the family scene", a scene that is suppose to make Padme a bit more compassionate, sympathetic and humbler character. But nah, we want action-Padme! And Natalie's acting in this is pretty awful. At first anyway.

It's the... "Padme's Bedroom"-scene! Clip is 1 minutes and 20 seconds long. Here is the high quality version (28mb) and here is the low quality version (14mb)

Have fun, and remember - always eat cereal with a fork!

and finally, LeonR shares this news:
This coming week's TV GUIDE, Nov. 9-15, with the James Bond covers has an article and photo about Natalie on page 10. It is the "Insider" section. It is titled " Would she ? Could she ? " Briefly .. it says that both ABC and CBS networks are casting for biopics about the late Natalie Wood and "The Insider" suggests casting Natalie "a stunning look-alike" with comparison photos of Natalie Wood and Natalie Portman (in the blue and white dress from ATOC Premiere). It says her Reps response was "No Comment". Well, remember she mentioned Danny Aiello's (Fat Tony from The Professional) advice to her of "don't do television"

good morning folks, 2 more Natalie scans from recent mags:

1..
2..

ok, before i get to a boring news link, remember Natalie's appearance at the Vanity Fair "In Concert" Series Launch Party on October 17th, 2002?? if not, just click here for the pics..

'anyways,' i found some info on some of said party's "beneficiaries:"
Our collective efforts benefit the 2002 local beneficiaries: the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center's Breast Examination Center of Harlem and Sanctuary for Families.
please click here for more..

right, here's the boring news link i mentioned earlier..

btw, it's boring 'cause it's a rehash of the press release..

UPDATE: speaking of rehash, abcnews has more..

this report has the latest casting report for "Havana Nights." looks like Natalie took a pass on the film project..

speaking of film projects, Natalie's upcoming project "Head in the Clouds" has just been listed on "The Hollywood Stock Exchange"..i'd expect an IPO soon..please click here..

 Here goes nothing
What about the quick transition from that droid building place to the arena, too abrupt? Well, here's one of the scenes that was suppose to be in between there.

It's the... "Dooku interrogates Padme"-scene. Not much of an interrogation if you ask me...
Clip runs for just over a minute an here is the high quality version (22mb) and here is the low quality version (11mb).

And btw, I don't offer any support for your computer...

5 more Natalie scans this morning..

2..
3..[a mag from Italy]..
4..
5..

alrighty, some news links and such..

this review of the film "Tuck Everlasting" has a Natalie mention:
Bledel and Jackson represent well this charming film's young-love-at-bay storyline, with the fetching images of the pair romping through a meadow and feeding a doe coming across with far more affection than the manufactured attempts at true romance between Hayden Christensen's Anakin Skywalker and Natalie Portman's Princess Amidala in director George Lucas' Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.
for the last time, Amidala was never a Princess!! think C-SPAN..

eye.net has a AOTC DVD review..

baxterbulletin.com has a report on new and upcoming DVDs..AOTC DVD has a short mention..

ok, here's the kicker, said report 'sez' "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" is number 1, and "Spider-Man," number 2, to which i say:

 Halp!
Kris and JC have tied me and Sanjiro up and stuffed us in the np.com basement while they executed their takeover of the site. Luckily I managed to escape thanks to a combined effort between myself and Sanjiro. We used cucumbers, signed David Hasselhof posters, pupic hair and string to create a masterful pulley system. When that suprisingly failed I smashed Sanjiro's glasses with a kick and used the broken glass to cut the rope's tying my hands...Sanji was a bit annoyed that I didn't take the glasses off him before I broke them but I think he's cool with it now. I'd ask him if I'd had time to cut his ropes as well. So now that I'm free I've taken time to reply to a few dozen emails and will now update with the little info that the others have missed.

(Note: The above passage was in no way meant to distract you guys from the real reason I've been AWOL because that would mean divulging my personal problems and trust me, we don't want to open that door.)

Not sure if this is old or not but I'm too traumetised to care. Steal Natalie's look! Pervs, clicking on her breasts does nothing...sorry.

Thanks for all the Motto's that were sent in but while some were funny none really struck me as being perfect for the site. I'm gonna speak to Sanji about it but for now consider the motto issue dead.

Chris D has this cool report from a recent concert:
Anyhoo, I thought I should tell you that Natalie was mentioned at a rock and roll show here in Minneapolis @ The Quest Club (Prince's old stomping ground). The show was of the band "Brad" (they have a guy from Pearl Jam in them). Natalie was actually mentioned by the opening act Harold Chichester (actually he goes by "Happy" or "Howlin" or something now). His old band "Howlin Maggie" did a song for the "Beautful Girls" soundtrack and he actually got to come to Minneapolis to be in the movie. He said he was happy about that because he got to meet Natalie Portman. I loudly but politely exclaimed "Yeah, but she was like 12 then" to which he gave me a bemused look and continued on with his energetic music.
Incidentally after Nat was mentioned I heard many a hoot and holler, so obviously I wasn't the only Portman fan in attendance.

Fanart has been a bit slow of late but I do have a couple good ones today.

Adrian sent in this classy wallpaper.

Ben sent in perhaps the strangest wallpaper of recent months. A new trend...Where's Natalie?

Ben also sent in a couple sane wallpapers. Click here and here.

Life is a sonofabitch. Enjoy your weekend.

 UPDATE at the Roxy
good evening, the Evening Standard (UK) declares Keira Knightley is the new Julie Christie and mentions Nat as well..

meanwhile, The Guardian (UK) has a really flawed article 'imho,' and mentions Nat in "Where The Heart Is."

oh, and btw, another nifty auction..

Mart has updated the articles page..here are his comments:
Interview Magazine - Jean Reno interview - Oct 2001. This has been on our
servers for ages, but somehow got lost. I don't know we have it now, and ahhh it was written by our Natalie herself.

Jewish Journal - Portman's fight - May 10 2002. Sent in by [Roxy]. Erm, goes on about the Harvard newspaper article she wrote. Fair enough.

People (US) - Pop quiz with Natalie Portman. A quick interview while Natalie did the Polo game in the New Hampshires. A quick interesting read. Ho hum, night in a car with a guy who forgot to book a room.

People (South Africa) - Star Wars Queen Natalie Portman reveals her double life - Jul 2002. This goes to huge lengths summarising the plot of Ep II. A couple of paragraphs of what are, I think, original quotes.

The Isaac Mizrahi Show - Aug 28 2002. It took me hours and hours to do this with all the 'like's and 'you know's, the repetitions and speaking over each other or when giggling. It bloody drove me crazy.

DVD Monthly (UK) - The girl who would be queen - October 2002. Transcript by Matt Sundin. Nothing that you guys won't know, but hey it's about Natalie, and is actually quite a nice little bio for any newbies out there.
huge thanks to 'like' Mart!! 'you know,' you bloody rule dude!!

 6 AM EST/5 AM CST
good morning everyone, a breaking report @ 6 AM EST/5 AM CST:
CATHERINE Zeta-Jones has confirmed her status as Tinseltown royalty by being named Hollywood's most sexy dresser. The Welsh beauty saw off competition from acting counterparts Jennifer Lopez and Natalie Portman in the annual What Your Clothes Say About You poll judged by a panel of American fashion experts. Catherine, who is expecting her second child with husband Michael Douglas, was lauded for her "dominant and empowering" look. Other Brits singled out for their sartorial know-how were yummy mummy Elizabeth Hurley and catwalk queen-turned-writer, Sophie Dahl. In fact, English style was given a pneumatic thumbs-up in the poll as these home-grown beauties all featured in the top five. (November 11 2002, AM)
the above is the news of the day at vogue.co.uk..

from fashion to BEAUTY..people.co.uk sez:
Everyone who's in the know, knows beauty guru Bharti Vyas. The holistic beauty therapist has famous clients including Mariah Carey, Cherie Blair and Cher, and is the final word when it comes to perfect skincare. She's also the mastermind behind the Skin Wisdom range at Tesco, meaning you can get her expertise at a fraction of the cost. In fact, you can follow her entire beauty routine for just under £20, and should have skin as creamy as Natalie Portman's in no time!
right, AICN has a new AOTC DVD review by Alexandra DuPont..

meanwhile, TFN has a report about a TV Guide report that was scooped by LeonR a couple of days ago..

Kris was telling me about his LAN party weekend.

a guy sitting about 5 computers down from me had a natalie wallpaper. "good choice" i said and he was like... "hey, I know you!!, you're that guy from np.com!"

Hehe.

I've just got a few things today.

Our very own Mart sends word that UK satellite channel, FilmFour, is having a big poll for the 100 greatest filmstars. You'll notice that Natalie is featured in the pages graphic. Note: you need to register to vote.

Also, Natalie is making some small magazine appearances. Look for Natalie in the Nov 11 US Weekly and December edition of J-14. Thanks to Melissa and Kate.

Darthpsychotic is mirroring our new DVD clips but has slip them up because of limitations. You can check out the site here and use this program to put the pieces together. Please do not email us about how the program works.

Bazloop has all the fanart for today.

This wallpaper is gorgeous.

Any teeth/mouth fetishists out there? If so you'll love these next 4 wallpapers. Freaky.

And finally, don't miss The Professional on Bravo this saturday.

and finally, Aleph chimes in:
NataliePortman.de was lucky to acquire an early version of the ABH script. This is presumably the version Natalie refused to play back then because she did not feel comfortable with sexually explicit details of the story. Readers have to decide if this edition is better or worse than the revised one. It certainly is different, but it's still the same cast that plays in your minds eye if you have seen the movie. We are putting this up as a serial. Please find the first 16 pages of 120 at natalieportman.de. To be continued soon. Enjoy!

 the morning after
ok, dearest Melissa sent me an email that's related to the AOTC DVD release today:
Hey J.C. I am soon to get ahold of the AOTC DVD (im gonna head to wal*mart with some friends in about a half hour, the line will be extremely long) anyway I was talking to a friend and this is what we discovered about the DVD, im not sure how she found this but she did....

our good friend George has hidden a feature on DISC ONE. The feature that they have hidden is BLOOPERS and OUTTAKES.

And to get to them you must got to the MAIN MENU, and then click on OPTIONS. Then when you are in the OPTIONS section, HIGHLIGHT the THX logo, and then press.... the +10 button. wait about 3-5 seconds and then press 1, wait 3-5 seconds and then press 1 again, wait 3-5 seconds and press 3, and wait again and press 8.

The Bloopers and out takes should start up after that! Ok... and to see the same thing.... do it the same way on the Episode 1 first disc.

hope this helps...

Melissa
thanks so very much for sharing with us, Melissa!!
Kris updates: Sorry to rain on Melissa's parade, but the feature she is referring to is what I called the "gagreel" and can be downloaded here (high quality) or here (low quality)!

hi folks, please excuse this rather ragged update as i'm 'under the weather..'

this webpage 'rehashes' the November 5th VH1 press release:
Leave it to VH1 to shake things up. Already inundated with awards shows for everything under the sun, we now have VH1 and its "VH1 Big in 2002 Awards," a sort of special nod to the excesses of pop culture. The two-hour special will premiere on Dec. 15 and will feature such categories as Strange but True. Competitors in this category include "The Anna Nicole Show," "The Osbournes," "Crossing Over with John Edward," "The Pet Psychic" and "True Hollywood Story." In the category "Do I Look Fat in this Fight?" competitors include Sarah Michelle Geller for "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer," Jennifer Garner for "Alias," Beyonce Knowles for "Goldmember," Lucy Liu for "Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever," Natalie Portman for "Attack of the Clones." You get the idea.
more reviews of the AOTC DVD:
cnn.com..
signonsandiego.com..
The Canadian Press..

moving along, Aleph is back with the second installment of the April 14, 1998 ABH script:
"If I were home now, I'd be getting ready to wear my bunny fur coat." - The second installment of the April 14, 1998 ABH script version is up at np.de. Nothing much new in there, Ann being a snotty teenager, Adele the ignorant mother. Oh, Steven Spielberg has a small cameo. Other scenes, like Adele and Ann being complete hicks in the Beverly Hills Hotel lobby, might just have hit the ground of the cutting room.
danke once again to Aleph and np.de!!

Vanessa shares about this Nat Fanart on ebay..thanks Vanessa!!

and finally, Mart chimes in regarding what Melissa wrote..please refer to the November 12th update below:
It's up to you if you put this, but the easier way to access the gag reel is on disc 1 go to title 15, saves all the fiddly key presses. There is another hidden feature so far reported (from www.eeggs.com): On disc 2 select "Dex's Kitchen and Still Galleries". When the next screen appears, select "To Dex's Kitchen". On the next screen highlight the 'Main Menu' option. Press LEFT on your remote to highlight a small poster on the wall behind Dex. Press ENTER to view a series of 'wanted ads' that were used in college campuses back in April 2002, to promote Episode II.

 language decisions
Hey all

Something quite important today. I've gotten lots of emails over the years asking about the site being displayed in other languages. We've decided that now we could make something like this work although it depends entirely on the people we get to help us. Nevertheless this poll is the first step.

Aside from that just a couple other small things.

Maddux sent in a couple ebay links.

The first one has what appears to be a new, amazing Nat pic but we're certain it's fake. Worth a look anyway...

The second link has some 2003 Nat calendars, which you can also get from this site.

And lastly, Melmatming10123 found a little Nat mention in this quiz. Overachiever...heh.

 the Osbournes & the imdb
good morning, the
November 25th issue of Newsweek
magazine has an article about the Osbournes..excerpt:
[Jack Osbourne]?s even more pathetic at the prospect of meeting Natalie Portman. ?Can you just tell the publicist that all I want is to hang out with her,? he pleads as people file in for the show. Portman walks in?and right past Jack. Doesn?t she know he?s a celebrity, too?
hehehehe, Jack's no celeb..he's just a cesspooler..

imdb.com has a new page for Natalie's new film, "Head In The Clouds.."

in addition, imdb has just posted several Natalie pics at the Premiere mag's "New Power Players Under The Age Of 35" event.. click here..

 Kiss kiss
Hey all

Is the weekend treating you well? It certainly isn't treating Spurs fans well.

Zeli sent in another scan from French Rolling Stone. Pucker up!

According to several people, Adam Sandler was on SNL and he performed a new version of his Hanukah song, which is about Jewish celebrities. Natalie got a mention although nobody has been able to remember the line. Can anyone help? Maybe even provide an mp3?
Update:

"Hey, Natalie Portmanica /
It's time to celebrate Chanukah /
I hope I get an abtronica /
On this joyful, toyful Chanukah"

Now that's comedic genius right there...

Kari sent in this info:
There's a small pic of nat on the december issue of seventeen. the feature's called "what's your perfume personality," in which natalie is you're celebrity idol if you enjoy the scent of Ralph Lauren's Glamorous Shimmer.

The november 25th issue of us weekly has 3 pics of natalie wearing the VH1/Vogue red dress. pg 15 is called "Red Hot Entrances" vh1/vogue fashion awards posen dress pg 58 is called "Celebrity Dance Off" natalie portman shakes her body at a vh1/vogue party in NYC (this same pic is on pg 9 table of contents)

Lisa has this little tidbit:
Today's (sunday, the 17th) issue of "Kidsday" (part of "Newsday" Long Island) feature's Natalie as this weeks celebrity interview. They also have a cute quiz about her in here too.

Finally, UK fans keep an eye out for WTHI on Sky Movies Premiere 4. The dates: 20th and 25th. Thanks to Mark.

 Happy Chanukah
the amazing Aleph found the entire Chanukah Song Part III..source:
Altogether, now!

Today, comic actor Adam Sandler presents his Chanukah Song Part III, from his upcoming animated comedy, 8 Crazy Nights. It's certain to be a holiday classic, right up there with Jingle Bells and that Heat Miser song.

Put on your yarmulke / It's time for Chanukah / Once again it's onaka / The miracle of Chanukah

Chanukah is the Festival of Lights / One day of presents? Hell, no, we get 8 Crazy Nights / But if you still feel like the only kid in town without a Christmas tree / I guess my first two songs didn't do it for you / So here comes number three

Ross and Phoebe from "Friends" say the Chanukah blessing / So does Lenny's pal Squiggy and "Will & Grace"'s Debra Messing

Melissa Gilbert and Michael Landon never mix meat with dairy / Maybe they shoulda called that show Little Kosher House on the Prairie

We've got Jerry Lewis, Ben Stiller and Jack Black / Tom Arnold converted to Judaism, but you guys can have him back (just kidding, Tommy)

We may not get to kiss underneath the mistletoe / But we can do it all night long with Deuce Bigalow

Put on your yarmulke / Here comes Chanukah / The guy in Willie Nelson's band who plays harmonica / Celebrates Chanukah

Osama bin Laden -- not a big fan of the Jews / Well, maybe that's because he lost a figure skating match to gold medalist Sarah Hughes

Houdini and David Blaine escape straitjackets with such precision / But the one thing they could not get out of -- their painful circumcision

As for half-Jewish actors, Sean Penn is quite the great one / And Marlon Brando, not a Jew at all, but it looks to me like he ate one

There's Lou Reed, Perry Farrell, Beck and Paula Abdul / Joey Ramone invented punk rock music, but first came Hebrew school

Hey, Natalie Portmanica / It's time to celebrate Chanukah / I hope I get an abtronica / On this joyful, toyful Chanukah

So get a high colonika / And soil your Long Johnicas / If you really, really wannaka / Have a happy, happy, happy, happy / Happy, happy ... Happy Chanukah.
danke Aleph!!

ok, herewith, a listing of upcoming cable TV prog (USA) featuring Natalie..

 this week's New York mag
good morning folks, this week's New York mag [issue dated November 25th] has a Natalie blurb in the Intelligencer - Seen and Heard Around Town section:
PETA poster-children Joaquin Phoenix and Natalie Portman avoiding the foie gras, tuna, quail, beef tenderloin, lamb chops, and filet mignon being served at celebutante designer Zac Posen's recent 22nd-birthday bash at the Old Homestead steakhouse and opting for veggie quesadillas and various non-meat finger food instead.

Hi

My real world life is in ruins. The only thing keeping me afloat is my recently aquired obsession with the Hollywood Stock Exchange...mmm, those Equilibreum stocks look tasty...

But you're all here for Natalie news and not 10 000 word essays on why girls are evil, so let's get to it.

JC was unable to post these earlier so he's asked me to do it for him. They are new scans from various magazines:

One
Two
Three
Four
Five
Six
Seven
Eight
Nine.

My ICQ history is messed up so I can't say where the pics are from exactly but the file names should be a clue. Maybe JC will edit this update with the info later.

We also have two pieces of fanart from Max.

hi there, as DAZZA pointed out below, i'm having problems uploading scans for you because of some changes at the NPMB..

i've sent 3 new ones to DAZZA..so hopefully he'll get 'em all uploaded soon..

meanwhile, for folks who can't wait, i've re-sized and compressed the scans to under (less than) 150 KB each..

compressed_instyle_np_charlie.jpg - 142.26 KB..

compressed_instyle_np_charlie_r.jpg - 92.51 KB..
you'll 'prolly' know why the above scan is rated R after DAZZA uploads the original uncompressed 'biggie' version..
compressed_instyle_np_zac.jpg - 112.30 KB..

*not* Nat related - cover of screen mag, January 2003 edition for AlexSP - 147.63 KB..
btw, you can view the Nat related scans from screen mag and roadshow mag, January 2003 edition, by refering to DAZZA's update below..
moving along, Nat related news..first, from VOGUE UK:
POSEN'S CHERRY POPS - ZAC POSEN has come of age. The American designer, who has been the hottest name in New York fashion circles since debuting at Fashion Week with Anna Wintour in his front row two seasons ago, has lost his virginity at last. "I have been saving myself," he tells Cindy Adams of the New York Post. "Until now I was a 21-year-old virgin. But I just lost my virginity. In Milan. This gorgeous guy climbed up the outside of my hotel, so of course I had to sleep with him." Of course. Posen, who claims to have lost five pounds because he has been working so hard, celebrated his new status, and his 22nd birthday, in New York's Old Homestead steakhouse last week with a host of the beautiful people he has recently been dressing, including Naomi Campbell, Natalie Portman and Joaquin Phoenix. (November 20 2002, AM)
next, here's another AOTC DVD review..and this news website from Australia has a Natalie mention..

finally, Cal found nifty Padme costumes et al., at TFN..thanks Cal!!

 Nat blurbs
good evening, Nat blurbs c/o:
INL, New Zealand..
The E.W. Scripps Co..
UPI..
and here's something c/o New York Newsday:
By Carrie Mason-Draffen

November 21, 2002

The highest-ranking labor official in the Bush administration will travel to Syosset High School tomorrow to accept a local-girl-made-good award from her alma mater.

U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao, class of '71, will receive the school's first Alumni Award of Distinction plaque.

When confirmed by the Senate on Jan. 29, 2001, Chao became the first Asian-American woman to serve in a president's cabinet. Chao, 49, oversees a vast department of about 17,500 employees, whose duties include enforcing workplace and environmental laws. She also has been director of the Peace Corps and chief executive of United Way of America. Chao is married to Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

"At Syosset schools, we are educating the future leaders of tomorrow," superintendent Carole G. Hankin said. "We want to recognize Secretary Chao for her many achievements."

Chao said she felt "blessed" to receive the award. "America is a great country where dreams come true," she said.

In high school, the future labor secretary played field hockey, basketball and softball; joined the theater club (behind-the-scenes work) and helped lay out the yearbook. She graduated in the top 5 percent of her class.

Chao and her family came to the United States from Taiwan when she was 8. She grew up in Queens and moved to Convent Road in Syosset when she was in the eighth grade. She holds degrees from Mount Holyoke College and Harvard University.

Though she's the first recipient of the award, Chao isn't Syosset's only distinguished alumnus. Former Federal Reserve vice chairman Alan Blinder graduated in 1963. Actress Natalie Portman of "Star Wars" graduated in 1999.

 out for the count
Hey all

I'm sorry but a serious case of heartbreak has me struggling to eat let alone find energy for np.com

Hopefully I'll be back on my feet before long but in the meantime I just stumbled across this NME article:
THE WHITE STRIPES are to play in front of HOLLYWOOD stars NICOLE KIDMAN, JUDE LAW and RENEE ZELLWEGER at the wrap party for 'COLD MOUNTAIN'.

'Cold Mountain' also features Jack White, making his acting debut.

The duo are playing at the party on Saturday (November 23) in Romania, where 'Cold Mountain' has been filmed. The film, due for release early next year, is directed by Anthony Minghella.
I wonder if Nat will be there?

 SNL..Showtime..the Osbournes
hello, found this Natalie related news at Variety this morning:
Twentieth Century Fox and Lucasfilm have taken understandable pride in the big grosses for the giant-screen run of "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones." But there's been little discussion of the fact that while the screen image has grown dramatically, the pic's running time has been trimmed by 23 minutes.

"Clones" was clipped to 1 hour, 59 minutes -- vs. its original 2 hours and 22 minutes -- because Imax projection-booth systems can't handle pics longer than two hours.

Scenes cut from "Clones" were considered relatively minor, consisting mostly of inconsequential dialogue exchanges. One featured Hayden Christenen's Anakin and Natalie Portman's Padme. Another involved patter between members of Anakin's step-family.

Lucasfilm editors supervised the cuts, with little involvement from George Lucas, says Fox distrib prexy Bruce Snyder.

"You don't lose the continuity of the story by the scenes that have been taken away or shortened," Snyder stresses.

A Lucasfilm spokeswoman said Lucas delegated the scenes' editing because he's "consumed with writing 'Episode 3.'"

The giant-screen "Clones" grossed $4.9 million through Nov. 18 from 18 Imax theaters since its Nov. 1 bow.

A few engagements may peel off in coming weeks, (but) "some of these theaters will be playing this picture for months and months," Snyder says.

The Imax run brings the domestic cume for "Clones" to a stellar $307.1 and counting.

Date in print: Mon., Nov. 25, 2002
meanwhile, Time Europe has this Natalie blurb:
..producer Anna Waterhouse is courting practically all of young Hollywood, from Christina Ricci and Natalie Portman..
over at Scotland's Daily Record Saturday, there's a Natalie blurb in a story about Keira Knightley's new TV version of Doctor Zhivago..

right, moving along, ekyillia found lots of rare Natalie pics/scans and posted them at the AQMB..here's just a sample..visit the AQMB, and look for ekyillia's posts in recent threads..

tolka sends word that scans from "Mythmaking Behind the Scenes Book" can be found at tolkasworld.com/SW_index.html..thanks tolka for sharing!!

speaking of sharing, Luke shares with us the following:
Natalie was mentioned in the opening sketch and it was EXTREMELY brief. Will Ferrell was playing Bush and confused the Queen of Jordan with Queen Amidala. "Mr.Cheney' had to remind Bush that Natalie was Queen Amidala in AOTC. Later he confused the Saudi Prince for Obi-Wan Kenobi or said he resembled him. I know, it is a skimpy mention, but hey, Luke.
thanks Luke..and MTFBWY!!

ok, Andy informs that:
Heat will appear on Showtime E on Sunday, December 1 at 12:00 AM (CST) and also on Showtime E on Thursday December 5 at 7:15 PM (CST)
thanks once again Andy!!

that reminds me, be sure to check out MTV's the Osbournes on November 26th..(please check local listings)..

apparently, there *may* be a clip (or two) of Jack Osbourne's infamous video recording of Natalie at the MTV Movie Awards 2002..and his comments about her *COUGH*ass*COUGH*..hey, it's supposed to be funny..well, perhaps not..'anyways,' catch the clip(s) and judge for yourself..

btw, if you can record said broadcast and convert the recording to mpeg, avi, etc..please send 'em to Kris..many thanks in advance!!

Remember The Roots? When Moby arranged his Area One concert, they were there and caught on camera with Natalie (picture here)
Well, they must have done something right, because last monday they had a release party, and guess who showed up?

Here is the gallery!

And about that Osbourne-clip, HyperGuy was kind enough to send them to me and to my great disappointment it was even shorter than the one we posted back in June. The only "new stuff" is when he's talking to an MTV guy about Nat's publicist...
Here is the video clip from June.

What was Natalie Portman's favorite subject in school?

Math.
speaking of trivia, azazyel found something related to Hayden Whatshisname:
Nothing to do with Natalie just thought it was pretty funny. Check out who made number nine. FILM THREAT'S FRIGID 50: THE COLDEST PEOPLE IN HOLLYWOOD

9. HAYDEN CHRISTENSEN Darth Vader as you've never seen him...a pouty, petulant faux-teen with a sissy voice. A worldwide hunt for the new Anakin in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones resulted in... HIM? What happened, did Lucas lose Lynn Stalmaster's phone number?

 punchdrunk love
Hey everyone

I'm feeling a bit better so I thought I might as well cash in before the cloud reforms over my head. I've caught up with emails, set the new ATS in motion and now for an update of stuff that slipped through JC's net.

Shiran has sent in an interview from Channel 3 in Israel. It's definitely a bit different to the usual interviews so be sure to read it here.

We also have this interview from the Jewish Bulletin. Thanks Andy.

Nautika7mk found this Playboy interview with Morena Boccarin. Morena was Natalie's understudy for The Seagull and is currently in the tv show, Firefly.
Playboy.com: You acted with Natalie Portman and understudied for her role in last year's Central Park production of The Seagull. Any stories about Natalie? Morena

Baccarin: We chatted some. She's a very, very nice, very smart girl. She's got a great heart. She's a foster mom for dogs before they get adopted, so sometimes I would baby-sit the dogs while she was onstage.

PB: Now that you're starring in a sci-fi show, have you talked to her about her role in Star Wars as Princess Amidala?

MB: I haven't. While we were doing The Seagull, I didn't anticipate that I'd be in space, too. I did talk to her about doing that and what it was like. She said it was very intense in terms of costumes and everything you have to wear. I can now understand, but I think mine are a little easier. They're very simple, but I get to wear the most exotic and interesting costumes I think.
Foster mom for dogs...awwww...

Natalie Hill says there's a padme pic in the Replay Member Magazine with Sum41 on the cover. The pic is on page 57.

Melissa says that Natalie is in the U.S weekly mag issue nov.26. Apparently there is a pic of her dancing at some party? Can anyone help?

And Dianne (what's with all the girls???) sent this little tidbit:
i was watching breaking it down on mtv...the thing was "hollywood" this guy is going into aproducers office in La ......he says " going to meet with producers here in hw what else could you want... well the only thing i can think of is natalie portman."

This is damn classic. It's some British chick's personal website. She has pics of her friends and some text explaining her life and yadda yadda but scroll down and you'll read this:

"Here's a piccy of me, taken by Rob to be honest i cant remember what Loews theatre was, and why i was standing their. Would anyone like to come forward and solve the mystery?"

And next to that is a picture of Natalie at the Loews theatre...haha. Thank for that Mike.

Let's kick things off with a cool piece from Jen.

The king of wallpapers, No Archetypes, is back.
This first wallpaper is called True Love Waits, which is the name of a Radiohead song, so it's pretty much the coolest thing ever.
The second wallpaper is not named after a Radiohead song but it's still cool by association.

Fetishists rejoice. Here's Orionsaint with his foot tribute.

Here's a good one from Ben.

Curious George is next with this "simple" wallpaper.

Next up is this collage from Michelle.

And finally, Lord Edly sent in this Dragon Ball Z inspired image...DBZ happens to be my girlfriends favourite show...haha...hah...h...*sob*

Time to go hate the world some more. Seeya.

PS - Sanji is still MIA.
