Ello
We've got a few nice things to start the week with so lets skip the yap and get to the Nat.
Kicking things off are 3 more pics of Nat in Israel. More specifically, outside a restaurant in Tel Aviv. That's got to be one of her favourite dresses. A big thanks to Shuku once again.

Click here and here for the other two.
The following site has a report (along with a new pic) about Natalie visiting a hospital in Israel. The site "slaps" Natalie down for it, which is too moronic to even get worked up about. Thanks to Sonoyta.
The article above mentions a fund raiser and Rony sent in a scan from an Israeli magazine that reports on the event. Click here for the translation.
The theme continues with news that the Clothes Off Our Back auction is now open. If any girl gets that Stella McCartney dress, I would recommend not wearing underwear.
We also have a People Magazine article about the auction, including a little quote from Natalie and some kind words about her. Thanks to Lurking.
Thanks to Hank we finally have a nice sized look at that amazing Paris Je T'aime poster. Wow.
Rounding off the news is this newsworthy piece of non news. In a nutshell, Michael Chabon has been asked to stop commenting about the Kavalier and Clay film on his website.
And finally, just once piece of fanart today - this drawing from Kellie.
Ciao for now

| Sigh, Michael Chabon. That man has stolen my heart through his words. I'm halfway through Wonder Boys now. It seems to lack the magic of Kavalier & Clay, but I so envy his writing talent. |

Hmm, I feel kind of torn about her doing so much pro-Israel charity work. (Don't mean to start a Holy War with that one, it's just how I feel).
Also, did anyone notice in the English translation of that article, it says she had trouble expressing herself in Hebrew? Do any Hebrew speakers know what she said, and if it is incorrect? I always thought Hebrew was the one language she *was* completely fluent in. (Unlike French, Japanese, etc, which she just speaks a little). Interesting... |

| Maybe her Hebrew is just rusty. I have Norwegian and Polish friends and when they go months without speaking english it takes them awhile to get back into the groove. |

| I can see why Natalie also considers Isreal to be her home. In these pictures she is glowing. It's probably where she is happiest. |

I'm glad to see Nat doing work in Israel again!
That green dress is one of my favorites too...anyone know who the maker of it is...?
The people who get the auction items are very lucky indeed. Too bad about the snow globe though; I remember reading that it was one of the few SWs souvenirs that she cherished. At least it's for a good cause.

GOD LORD SHE LOOOOVES THAT DRESS!
Is that the same one she's worn 2 twice already?
If it is, it looks best on her in this type of hair style. |

| Whew! She really gets given a hard time sometimes doesn't she? Still she's looking great and happy which is good enough for me. |

I really, really hope she does Kavalier and Clay. I'm in love with the book.
I don't see visiting people in Israel as pro-Israel, really. Especially if you're born there. |

Cereal, you're right that just going to Israel, if you are Israeli, is not necessarily pro-Israel; but visiting soldiers in hospitals and hosting a charity dinner to raise millions of dollars seems pretty pro-Israel to me.
Besides, it is not just this event; as we all know from other interviews and the like, Natalie is pro-Israel. Politically I don't know if she would use the word "Zionist" as that word is out of favor, but that is definitely more where she leans toward. (She is a supporter of Alan Dershowitz, and was research assistant to his "Case for Israel," in addition to other things).
Sorry I didn't mean to turn this into a big political thing, but....since this is the big Nat news going on now, it's hard to avoid I guess. But, aren't there any other Nat fans out there who are a bit bothered by this? I have always had discomfort around it. |

Why criticize someone for helping those less fortunate? Is it better for everyone to be apathetic and do nothing at all?
Unrelated...what is it with those HUGE black glasses? Blech. |

The girl is helping her country's people. I don't see anything wrong in that. On the contrary. And the article writer had his butt kicked by his own readers (just read the comments following the article).
BTW have i mentioned that she is extremely sweet? I did huh? I thought so... |

| Knowme, have you read Natalies letter to the Harvard Crimson? If memory serves it was neither pro Israel nor pro Palestine. She said that any country involved in violent acts should be ashamed. Maybe her opinion has changed but I doubt it. |

| Hey Knowme: SHE'S FROM ISRAEL, STUPID. |

Natalie is Israeli, is it that horrible that she is somewhat favoring Israel? She is not saying that somehow the Lebonese hurt by the war are worth less than the Israelis, I highly doubt that is her opinion, she is merely trying to do her part to help the people in Northern Israel who have been heavily bombed.
If people are too concerned with being exactly fair about everything NOTHING will get done. In a different situation say someone raised money to help a certain group of Burmese refugees it might be considered unfair because there are other groups who you aren't helping, but to refuse to help some because you can't help EVERYONE is a paralyzing thing to do. Natalie is helping who she can. Don't blame her for not doing everything, she's just an actress. |

knowme. In a war, there are blameworthy people (politicians and diplomats on either side) and people who suffer (almost everybody else, army included, on either side). Natalie is helping those who suffer by actually doing something about it. Giving a helping hand to restore their homes and lifes. I thing that's very sweet of her, it's what realy matters, and it's totaly irrelevant with politics. Not to mention (as Sanjiro noted), that those people are her fellow countrymen.
Just my humble opinion. |

I love the fact she's back in Isreal. It's b.s. to help other countries and not the one you were at least "BORN" in..

Sorry, I wasn't trying to provoke anyone here. But geez, no need to get defensive, people. For the record, I love and adore Nat just as much as you all; but I am not some mindless fanboy who thinks everything she does is made of gold and flowers- if she does something I don't agree with, I say it! I've always respect dazza for encouraging real opinions on this site, and not just worship worship worship like other fansites.
Nothing wrong with wanting to help out in a distressed time, but...I guess it would sit better with me, if....I don't know, maybe if that charity dinner had benefitted the whole REGION affected by the war or something?- Lebanon AND Israel- and not just one side. Like it or not, those are her politics, Dershowitz and all the rest, and I can't help but be bothered by it. I should think other people would be too. It doesn't mean you don't support Nat, but that you don't agree with her on this issue. Or who knows, maybe you all are of the opinion with those posters on that "slap" site- GO NAT, GO ISRAEL, and to hell with Lebanon and Palestine and all the rest? Anyway sorry I'll stop posting a dissenting opinion now.... |
