| Natalie Has Been Cast In Thor |
 |
I'll be back with more in a bit so just a quick update for now. Hollywood Reporter and various other sites have confirmed that Natalie WILL be doing Marvel's next Superhero film, Thor.
Natalie Portman has been cast as the female lead in "Thor," Marvel Studios' adaptation of its comic book featuring the Norse god of thunder. Kenneth Branagh is directing.
Portman has been cast to star as Jane Foster, who in early comic book lore was a nurse who became Thor's first love. The studio said the character will be updated for the feature adaptation.
Chris Hemsworth is already cast as Thor. Tom Hiddleston is Loki, the god of mischief who serves as the movie's villain.
"Thor" is Marvel's stab at an epic fantasy adventure, spanning from present-day Earth to the realm of Asgard. The story centers on Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As punishment, Thor is cast down to Earth and forced to live among humans but once here, he learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.
Marvel's Kevin Feige is producing.
Principal photography for the film is set for early 2010. The film will be released in the U.S. on May 20, 2011, distributed by Paramount Pictures.

Screw her having a break. She's been on vacation for 2 years!
;-)
Lotta movies coming up, which is great. Quite a diverse selection too. |

I think I'm excited by the news. Branagh is a god to most actors so I'm not surprised she said yes just as a chance to work with him. I just hope the film is great and she has a good character. Her last "Jane" was spectacular so I hope this one is good too ;)
It really is nice to see her working so much after the drought we've had the last couple of years. |

2011 will be the summer of Natalie: a major action movie (Thor) and comedy (Your Highness) could be released within months of each other!! I really hope they're successful.
These films and 'Artifacts' are really quite commercial projects. She's spoken about how hard it was when she wasn't offered good parts post Star Wars and how she wants to make good comedies. After a series of arthouse and indie flops, does anyone else think Natalie is trying to make herself more commercially viable? |

| Ignore Eric Bana Hulk, Spiderman 3, X3, fantastic Four. Remember Iron Man, Hulk. These are the products of Marvel producers. Thor is going to be in this line of Marvel movies, building continuity towards an Avengers movie. THIS IS REALLY AWESOME. This movie will be a hit. |

| I saw the news and I had my mouth open wide...Still it's a good news, I like marvel movies. Only wish that it won't be another F4, Spider-man 3 or Hulk movies, because they sucked. |

| I doubt it will be awful. Superhero films go really bad when they're in the hands of people that don't understand them. Marvel are the perfect studio and while it may not be amazing, I think it'll be at least decent. |
