| Ashton Likes F*ck Buddies, Doesn't Like Nat |
 |
Two bits of Ashton Kutcher related news today (is this what my life has come to?) and both related to the Untitled Ivan Reitman Project.
First up is an article over at Celebitchy about Natalie and Ashton not getting along while filming. It's sourced from US Weekly so, as much as I wouldn't mind it to be true, you better keep your salt shaker handy.
It seems Natalie Portman thinks Ashton Kutcher is a twit. While shooting Friends With Benefits (which is now untitled) last spring, Kutcher and Portman - who played hookup buddies in the comedy - “couldn’t stand each other,” says a set source.
Kutcher “talks about his Twitter all day and thinks highly of himself,” continues the insider. And Harvard grad Portman wasn’t impressed.
“She would do her scenes then head back to her trailer and read books or scripts,” says the source. “She had no interest in hanging out with Ashton.” Counters a source close to Portman: “Not true. They had a great time filming.”
What Ashton does like is the original title for the Ivan Reitman film. Before it became untitled it was called Friends With Benefits, and before it had that title it was called Fuck Buddies. Ashton hopes that's what they finally go with.
"I just finished a film called The F**k Buddies, that may not ultimately be called F**k Buddies," he told MovieHole. "I don't know why... I think people would love to go see a movie called The F**k Buddies.
"I think if I saw a poster and it said 'The F**k Buddies,' I'd be like, 'I'm in, I'm going to see it...'
"I think it's going to be a really, really funny movie. I can't think about it without laughing. That should be the title. I'm shooting for that." Movie execs are thinking of changing the name but Ashton insists they keep it because it was the very reason why he took the project. I love the idea that he picks his films based on the titles. Maybe my over the top comic actually had some basis in reality ;-)

I would be excited about this movie if her co-star was Jake Gyllenhaal, and the director was Jason Reitman instead of Ivan.
I do love Kevin Kline, though. (and, of course, Olivia) |

Jake is all wrong for that character , I thin the screenwriter wrote it with Ashton and Natalie in mind.
You guys have Thor.
Now Natalie and Kutcher's female fans now have a rom com...and an original one at that.
Natalie's fan base is so diverse it is impossible for all of us to be happy and overjoyed about all that she does. I will admit she keeps it interesting.
I agree with Ashton it should be called Fuckbuddies...The original title given by the author which fits the story perfectly.
For the record I'm ecstatic about this one and can't wait to see it.

I'm not too sure how many of Natalie's female fans are excited about the film to be honest. I know Rachel and Harper aren't. Don't think Garcy, Jenski and Jen are doing cartwheels either.

You are not the fan base I ever refer to when speaking about Natalie's fans.
I already have a group of twenty of my female friends waiting to see this and we plan to go together on the Friday it opens.
Everyone on this site has been quite clear about how they feel about his movie. I post about my support so that it can be known all of her fans are not "underwhelmed" about it.
She does has more than the five female fans you listed.
Not all twenty of my friends are necessarily as enthusiastic about Natalie as I am but they are happy to see another actress taking on the rom com genre. Because they are tired of the same faces movie after movie.

You're welcome to that support and there's never a Natalie movie that I root against, although you seem to want Thor to crash and burn for some reason? But that's your prerogative.
I hope FB is a pleasant surprise and I certainly wouldn't say its an impossibility either.
I think "me and my friends are..." is a bit more accurate than the generalization you used, hence my reply, but its not a big deal. |

Kevin Feige was the reason for that statement... I don't see Thor as a Natalie movie, it's success or failure rests on Chris shoulders.
Besides it will neither crash or burn...Tons of money will be made.
Natalie's attachment to this franchise is a smart professional as well as business decision.
If they rate their rom-com as a PG13 it will be a success if it's rated R that will make it's success more of a challenge.
I'm sure Ivan has considered this and is why he is planning to change the title...In general the target audience for rom-coms are female teens and tweens.
As much as I like the name "F**kbuddies" I want to see the movie be a success even more. |

| Why don't you like Feige? The Norton statement? |

Well, Ashton for me is someone way too full of himself and that film would be one that I would rather rent than waste my money or my time going to theaters...IF it wasn't with Natalie. I'll pretty much just because of her and those days when you compare those romantic comedies to the old ones is just way worse and I usually watch them when I have nothing better to do or it has someone that I like or admire.
As for Norton....Honestly for me Norton was no where near Eric Bana's Hulk. Also don't like Mark for Hulk either...but hey Hulk is my least fave hero... So no Big deal there... |
