Question: Have any of you met one another in person, and if not, would you want to meet each other in person?

DAZZA:

No, I haven't. If I was in Europe or America I'm sure I would have by now. I'm a pretty shy introverted guy around people I'm not comfortable with so it'd take me a little while before I am myself. But other than being worried about that, yeah, I'd like meet some of my online friends someday.

Sanj:

i haven't met anyone but i wouldn't mind it. it'd be fun.

Kris: No, not yet. Atleast not to my knowledge. But we've spent so much time on ICQ that we know each others internet-personas pretty well. And sure I wish to some day.

JC: nope.. would love to..

Mart: I have never met any of the others face to face. I would be up for meeting the other guys... they are crazy.

Sub-Zero: on the staff? No. and sure.

Alex: i've met a few people off the message board. they were all successful encounters, with much drinking involved. it was really cool each time, and i'm sort of unhappy that in 6.5 years i've only met 4 NPMBers.

Question: Where do you guys/girl see yourselves in 10 or 15 years into the future?

DAZZA:

Hopefully making money writing film scripts. I'm not sure where I'd like to be living. I love Cape Town but this country has serious problems. I'd like to live in Australia...if there weren't any Australians there. Maybe Europe...I dunno. Other than that I'd like to be married to my girlfriend, Andie...or at least still together.

Sanj: fit as a fiddle and ready for love.

Kris: Living in the mountains married to a psychologist. :) Seriously, I'm living my life on a "week-by-week" basis. I've given up on planning my life anymore than that because it rarely turns out the way you want it. And it also depends so much on other people.

JC:

hopefully married and focusing on my wife..

Mart:

Dream, dream, dream. Hopefully married, with kids, living out of Britain, with a big car. Ha ha.

Sub-Zero: still a slacker.

Alex: no idea. my life is lived a week at a time, with crazy unexpected changes always going on. it was a crazy unexpected change which brought me to the US, and i'm doing a crazy semi-expected change in a few weeks when i move to finland. so i really have no idea. i'll either be
a) dead in a gutter
b) snorting lines of bolivia's finest off a suite at the las vegas hilton
c) your ad here

Question: If or when Natalie gets married, will any of you still want to work on the site?

DAZZA: Why would her getting married change anything? Because she'd be "unavailable"? I don't think anyone on the staff is warped enough to think they have a chance with Natalie.

Sanj: i guess.

Kris:

That depends on alot of things, if Natalie's personality changes into
a direction I'm not into (i.e "if she marries the 'wrong' guy") I'd have a
hard time motivating myself to put in hours of work on the site.

JC: no, i will be focusing on her..see my response to question 2 above..hehehe..

Mart: Interesting, I don't think I do this site in the hope that I will marry Natalie Portman. I feel I do it as Natalie is an amazing lady and she inspires me to try and better myself. I have dedicated my time to np.com, so as long as the site is there I would express myself via it.

Sub-Zero: Uh...

Alex: i don't see why it would make any difference. the only reason it'd make a difference would be if i was "working" (hoho. hoho) on the site to somehow try to woo her. then her marriage would break up my plans. but since i work (more hohos) around here for no reason whatsoever, it doesnt matter. if she likes someone well enough to marry him, more power to them.

Question: I'd be quite interested to hear each staff members brief thoughts on the
impending war.

DAZZA: Touchy subject.
Lemme start by saying that these are nothing more than my opinions. I never claim to know everything. Saddam is a bad man and the Iraqi people would probably be better off without him. But I do not agree with this war. There are just too many things that don't add up.
If it's about saving the people of Iraq where was the concern during the last decade or two? And if we're now so humanitarian what about all the other awful leaders around the world who make their people suffer? Why Iraq and not Zimbabwe?
So is it the threat? Possibly. But for the first time Iraq was looking serious about disarming. How can you attack when they've finally begun to co-operate? What is the point of the weapons inspectors if nobody cares what they have to say? And if America knows for sure the Iraqi's have weapons of mass destruction, why not tip off the inspectors and please everyone?
But I'm also annoyed and disillusioned with the UN. They need to make a decision and stick to it. Even if it means sanctioning USA and Britain. If they feel the war is illegal, which I think it technically is, then they must stand up and do something about it. You can't have countries doing whatever they want. International law must be enforced. What's to stop Pakistan going to war with India for Kashmir now? USA and Britain can do it so why can't they?
The bottom line is innocent people are going to die in the bombings and attacks. And each person that dies is gonna have a son or a father or a brother who will now hate the killer country. I worry that this is just going to fuel the hatred in the region. Plus the US has a very poor record of doing a good job after wars. Hell, Saddam and Osama became strong because of US support. Who's to say the next guy they put in power won't eventually do the same?
But perhaps worst of all we've gone from a situation of total unity after 9/11 to where Muslims hate the west and USA hates France and France hates Britain and Russia....man, it's just a total screw up. There is so much hatred and it can only lead to more heartache. And people like Saddam and Osama must be laughing their asses off. It's exactly what they would want. Perhaps I'm a silly idealist but I honestly believe the way to solve these problems is with understanding and compassion...not shock and awe.

Sanj: i think it's the best thing that's ever happened to me. i can't wait to watch the rest of it on tv.
i'm not really for it or against it. i guess that if they can get rid of saddam hussien then that's a good thing. innocents die. that happens a lot. it's too bad we live in this world.

Kris: De-throning Saddam = good
Killing innocent people = bad
Back in the September last year I was pretty much against it (as I am with most Bush-ideas). But since then alot has happened and I'm finding myself congratulating US & UK for getting their hands dirty to do their job, because it certainly wasn't gonna go away by itself. That france and germany took this opportunity to promote the "US isn't the boss of the world"-idea, which is an idea I support, was way bad timing and a bit cheap. And even though I am a pacifist at heart, I can't deny this is something that had to be done. But what do I know, I'm from sweden, known for being neutral and just observing things...

JC:

ermmm, what *impending* war?? more like undeclared war.. seriously, the US had s/ops inside Iraq last year..

ok, that was *brief*..

Mart: Oh god, to be honest, I actually feel that the way this has all been handled my the UK government is very admirable. There has been a threat from Iraqi government to many people, even those living within its boundaries. I do not feel they can be trusted, based on past cases, and there is no reason they would have changed. UN inspectors were removed during Clinton, that should have been sorted then, putting them back now clearly did something, but only with the combined threat of force. Iraq stalled, not giving full information... discrepancies in their arms dossier were constantly found, and no evidence of what happened to their chemical / biological agents they possessed. The UN threat collapsed with the attitude of the French and Russians, namely vetoing any resolution that threatened military action. But surely that is the point of the UN? It cannot say 'please show me where your chemical weapons are' it has to say 'tell me where they are or else!'. Force had to be used to stop the UN from being weak. Before WWII there was the 'league of nations' which had no power at all. The UN cannot fail, its resolutions must be taken seriously. Now war has started, I think it will be
whole heartedly beneficial. Civilians are not being targeted by the very accurate bombing, and the army is being given every chance of surrender. After the conflict, Iraq will be a much better place, admittedly after a hard period of time. This will be funded by oil sales, it seems, with the money going directly to Iraq. It always seems insensical to put the conflict down to oil - the world supplies of oil drown the Iraq supplies, any conflict cost would out weigh the gain from oil, and the oil will be sold to regenerate Iraq. That is a summary of my feelings, but it is a very complex issue. Sorry.

Sub-Zero: Death to America!

Alex: it's a complicated issue really. saddam is a bastard, yes. bush is a bastard, but a more subtle one. americans are all very subtle about their bastardness, until they get caught (see: enron) and then it all goes to poop. i don't think the war is such a great idea, seeing as it'll almost
certainly have far-reaching implications, such as everyone and their grandmother wanting to fly more planes into american buildings. they should hire a team of SUPER SNIPERS to take out saddam, and then the job's done. none of this war business. so my official stance is SADDAM SUCKS, BUT WAR SUCKS TOO, SO I'LL JUST GO PICK MY NOSE AND IGNORE IT ALL.
