Vox Lux debuts in New York and Los Angeles this Friday, and Natalie will be at the Ellen Show tonight to promote the film. Just Jared has the first pictures of her appearance on the TV show, and the Ellen YouTube channel has a preview video, in which Natalie reveals which popstar she channeled in Brady Corbet’s movie:
Natalie is finally back in the United States, and yesterday she attended the “A New Way of Life” 20th Annual Gala at the L.A. Grand Hotel Downtown in Los Angeles. A New Way of Life Reentry Project provides housing, case management, pro bono legal services, advocacy and leadership development for women rebuilding their lives after prison. It was founded by NAACP Image Award winner/CNN Susan Burton.
We have a few images of the evening:
It seems that Natalie and her family are enjoying a trip to Australia, visiting some spectacular places like Byron Bay and Mynion Falls. Daily Telegraph has an article (only for subscribers), with some photos of the family. It should be noted that children’s faces are clearly visible in them:
LA Times published an article today about actors who have played singers in recent months. This is the quote on Natalie and Vox Lux:
Months before shooting began, she also recorded a selection of tracks written by Sia and singer-songwriter and producer Scott Walker — it was the first time she’d ever been called on to sing so extensively for a role.
The experience left her with newfound respect for hit-makers and performers. “Pop stars are this incredible force of nature,” Portman said. “There’s a mystery there, an internal force that propels them. It’s a really hard life. You watch any of these documentaries, and it is so much work. I think what [makes them such fascinating figures on screen] is that special charisma that everyone is attracted to combined with this unbelievable work ethic and then the very human toll it takes.”
We don´t see Natalie and her family at an event unrelated to work for quite some time. Yesterday was one of those unusual moments: She and Aleph attended a basketball game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the San Antonio Spurs at Staples Center last night, and we have rarely seen them so relaxed, enjoying an event. Getty Images has the photos, although it should be noted that Aleph’s face is clearly visible:
The L.A. Dance Project, the company founded by Benjamin in 2011, usually held a gala in October for years, and this is no exception. The event was held last night, with the assistance of Natalie, Benjamin, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Garner, among many others. Zimbio and Just Jared have a lot of photos:
