Four years after, we finally have news of the other Terrence Malick’s film that Natalie filmed in 2012.
During the last two years, the movie was known as Weightless, but now IndieWire reports that the final title of the film will be Song to Song. The website also confirms its premiere in the USA on March 17, and gives more details of its argument:

Here’s the premise: “In this modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene, two entangled couples — struggling songwriters Faye (Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling), and music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and the waitress whom he ensnares (Natalie Portman) — chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.”

In addition to the main quartet, a number of musicians appear as well: Patti Smith, Lykke Li, the Black Lips, Iggy Pop, Florence and the Machine, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Considering Fabio briefly appeared in last year’s “Knight of Cups,” that sounds about right.

Also, the site has the first official still of the film (unfortunately Natalie does not appear in it).

2016 Year in Review

2016 Year in Review

It’s already 2017 in most of the world, but for those of us with a few more hours to go, how many of you are ready to say goodbye to 2016? I know I am. As much of a raging dumpster fire 2016 has been, it’s been pretty decent as far as years go in Natland. It’s time to ring in the new year with our annual year end recap.

Next Monday Natalie will be honored in an awards gala at the Palm Springs Festival along other actors such as Tom Hanks, Annette Bening, Nicole Kidman, Amy Adams, Andrew Garfield, Casey Affleck, Mahershala Ali, Ruth Negga and Emma Stone.

For this reason, Palm Springs Life Magazine has an extensive interview with the actress, in which she talks about the challenge of playing the famous First Lady in Pablo Larrain’s film. The article is illustrated with two new photos from Hollywood Reporter photoshoot in 2015:

I’ll admit that I was not excited about Jackie when the project was first announced back in 2012 (was it really that long ago?). I was picturing a forgettable, paint by numbers biopic, and didn’t feel like Natalie looked the part of Jacqueline Kennedy. But when it was announced that Darren Aronofsky was involved in the production and Pablo Larraín was directing, I became more hopeful that Jackie could be something special. After the all the glowing reviews started pouring in earlier this year, I was impatient to see the finished film. Now that I have, I don’t feel like there’s much to say that hasn’t already been said. The hype is real, guys.

The Wrap has another interesting interview with Natalie on portraying the iconic First Lady.

Jackie Photography Tidbits

Christmas is approaching, and a certain hiatus of news with it. Until the awards events of January begin, Jackie will expand in more US cinemas this holidays. One of the highlights of the movie, apart from Natalie’s performance and the Mica Levi’s soundtrack, is the cinematography by Stephane Fontaine. Awards Daily has an interesting interview with him, in which he describes the difficulties during the shooting in Washington D.C. and the Paris studios.

Also, we have a new “for your consideration” poster, and a couple of behind-the-scenes photos:

Golden Globe Hat-trick?

We are less than three weeks away from the 74th Golden Globes and with Natalie claiming a best actress nomination for Jackie, I thought it would be fun to take a look at Natalie’s past Golden Globes experiences.

But first, let’s look at her chances this year. Natalie is in the drama category, which means that some of her biggest awards season rivals (like Emma Stone) are not a threat for the Globes. To this end, a Golden Globe win is more likely than winning a second Best Actress Academy Award.

The Vegas odds seem to back that up. OG.lv has Natalie as the favourite with odds of 7/2 while Variety reports on odds that also have Natalie the favourite with odds of 8/5.

6fc51ffc34c2f9a7236b7e4b6cfca890

If Natalie wins it will be her third Golden Globes win and take her into a third-place tie for most Actress wins. Meryl Streep is way out front with seven and Shirley Maclaine has four.

In 2000 Natalie was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Anywhere But Here. She lost.
In 2005 she was a Best Supporting Actress winner for Closer.
In 2011 she won Best Actress – Drama for Black Swan.

Hopefully, on January 8th, 2017 we’ll see on stage to collect her third win.
