Hiya

We have yet another stacked update today. God, aren’t you bored of all this Nat stuff by now? Maybe I should just update with some of my poetry for a week to break up the monotony of Natness.

Let’s begin with another Boleyn review from someone who caught the test screening. I’m not going to post the link because:

a) I’m making it up
b) I’m mean
c) Its posted on a blog and I don’t want them getting spammed by Nat fans.

Here are the pertinent excerpts:

Anyway, I liked it. There were bits I did not like, and the character of Mary Boleyn was this idealised, super-nice girl which was rather annoying, so I did not sympathise with her much (even Anne Boleyn in this incarnation with her crazy schemes and shrewd ways was someone I felt more sympathetic towards). Mary was a wet noodle of a character, unreal and rather obnoxious because of it.

Natalie Portman owned the film as Anne Boleyn, even if it was considered an unkind portrayal of her character. She had depth though, and really drew you into the character. Natalie Portman was a great child actor, and all of the stuff she has done as an adult I’ve found rather disappointing, so it was nice to see that she still has it in her. Maybe it is down to the roles I have seen her in then. But Natalie was awesome in this film. She nailed the nuances of Anne’s character, portraying her as cunning and manipulative, yet showing how fragile she is and conveying how desperate she becomes towards the end.

The ever busy Pasha has some more gallery updates.

A bunch of additions to the Cinemateque gallerry.

Ditto for the Nobu Restaurant gallery.

And rounding things off are two new old magazine photos:

And finally, USA Today finally asks some tough questions. Namely, asking several celebs (including Natalie) to share their favourite Julia Roberts moments. The responses sorta sums up her output but I have to admit, Notting Hill is a guilty pleasure so kudos to Nat. Also, no love for Closer? Surely her best performance to date in my eyes. Thanks to Maggie.

I’ll be back with more soon. Till then.
