Role Model mention # 468

By February 1, 2009Nat-news

Yup, that’s right, yet another young actress has cited Natalie as an inspiration. This time, the girl in question is Eliza Hope Bennett (Inkheart and Nanny Mcphee).

She now dreams of working with Brad Pitt and James McAvoy, and cites Natalie Portman as a role model for the successful way she made the transition from child performer to adult star.

Adult star? You’re 16!

I love that girl’s name. And I think they were referring to the way Natalie became an adult star. 🙂 Eliza Bennett is hardly a star either way.

Apart from Eliza,it turns out that Emma Watson herself truly respects Natalie and wants to follow in her footsteps,in terms of pursuing a tertiary education.I found this article on IMDb:

“British actress Emma Watson looks up to Natalie Portman – because she managed to pursue a university education whilst starring in movies. The Harry Potter star is keen to gain a degree and has applied to a number of colleges, both in the U.K. and America, to start her studies this year, while continuing her role in the wizard film franchise.

And the 18-year-old hopes to emulate Portman’s academic success – she achieved a degree in psychology at Harvard College while she was working on the Star Wars films.

Watson tells Britain’s Daily Express, “I actually think going to university will make me a better actress. Look at Jodie Foster, Natalie Portman, Meryl Streep – they all educated themselves. It’s really important.”

Streep won a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Drama at Vassar College, New York in 1971, while Foster earned a B.A. in literature and graduated from Yale University, Connecticut in 1985.”

Oh yes and the other Emma…Roberts I mean,as in Julia Robert’s niece from the flicks “Wild Child”,”Nancy Drew” and “Hotels for Dogs” as well as the Nickelodeon sitcom “Unfabulous” has also stated that she really admires Natalie as well. Proof?

Who is your biggest role model?

Natalie Portman and Reese Witherspoon. They started when they were way younger than me, and they’re working and doing movies and they have personal lives that not everyone knows about. I think that’s great.

Another response from her about Natalie AGAIN,this time in a separate interview:

Question: And do you hope that the independent world is something that you’re going to continue to be drawn to, in terms of your acting? Is that what you want to do?

Roberts: Yeah. I love it. I mean, I want to do everything. I really like Natalie Portman, because I feel like she’s done a little bit of everything.

Question: She started, also, very young.

Roberts: Yeah. She started young. And she does the big studio movies, she does the independents, she does comedy, drama. I just really admire her for that. And she’s very educated.
