Merch Monday

Once again I’m in my cheerleader uniform to try and entice you to order from Amazon and support the site in the process.

Unfortunately the amazon widget further up the page isn’t doing much good. I thought it was a nifty idea but we’re going to have to bring back the google ad. I know most of you preferred the widget, so I apologize for that. However, I will continue with these once a week updates. Today we’re focusing on…

Ignore that horrible poster for Son of Rambow, because this is an incredibly heartfelt and imaginative film about youth. The two kids are an example of perfect casting and their friendship and love of film completely nails what its like to be a kid – especially a boy. This is the film that Be Kind Rewind wishes it had been.

It has a 7.3/10 rating on IMDB and is 74% fresh on RT.

The other DVD is a companion piece to and I can’t stress this enough – if you didn’t love the film or haven’t read the novel, save your money. However, if you know what the Black Freighter and Under the Hood are, this is worth checking out. Freighter is exactly how you’d expect but I was really surprised with how taken I was with Under the Hood, which really does a great job fleshing out the world and some of the peripheral characters in the film.

And then, of course, the Watchmen graphic novel. The best graphic novel I’ve ever read and actually one of the best novels period.

Once again, we really appreciate the support and remember that you can use any of these amazon links and navigate to whatever product you want, and it will still count as a referral from us.

If you don’t want to bother with the middle man, you can make a paypal donation by clicking the link below.

And if your dinner consists of bread and warm water, then even using the “share” button on important updates helps.

Thanks for the support.
