hmmm

I actually thought I had more for an update. Come on Nat, give us some love.

The first piece of news is in German. Can someone translate? Although considering the accompanying pic, I have a feeling I might regret asking. Thanks to f.b.

UPDATE

We now have the translation although I think I recall Pasha posting something about this project while I was away.

Looking glass upon the wall, Who is fairest of us all?

This famous question, the bad queen asks her magic mirror, could be heard soon again in cinema: Disney Pictures dusts his classic “Snow White and the seven dwarfs” from 1937 and plans a Kung-Fu-version of the cartoon – with real actors.

The new film takes place thousand years after the originl story from the famous fairy tale by the brothers Grimm. The young princess Snow White, played by “Star Wars”-Beauty Natalie Portman, is reborn. Her bad stepmother is looking for the seven pieces of the broken mirror to regain her power. They were kept in a temple in Central China for eternities.

Monks instead of dwarfs

Now, that the pieces are about to fall into the hands of the queen, seven Shaolin monks were send out to protect the princess and the mirror. The leader of combatmerrily squad is played by Hong-Kong-Actionstar Jet Li. Director of this strange project will be Yue Woo-ping, who was responsable as a choreographer for the fighting scenes in “Matrix” and “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”.

Sounds utterly craptastic. Thanks to everyone who sent in translations.

There are a couple more reviews of Goya on AICN. One is incredibly positive while the other is a total slam.

But the true testament to Portman’s talents as an actress, she maintains a look in her eye–half mad, half dead–that is impossible to shake.

and

Portman is an actress who requires a very sure directorial vision if she’s going to work well in a film. You have to know exactly what you want out of her, and you’d better be pretty sure ahead of time that it’s in her range. When she’s out of her comfort zone, she’s first-year drama student bad

I actually half agree with that point above. I think that Natalie does need a sure hand to excel in roles that don’t play to her main strength. But she’s certainly not as awful as he makes out.

And finally, since there isn’t much else, here is a fun thread (until Clone/Aussietrooper ruins it as per usual) on the forum about Natalie’s oral fixation.

More tomorrow. I hope.
