Bloomberg has a piece up that mentions the company that is co-financing the film with Fox Searchlight. They mention that the production cost is $34 million, which is quite high for a Darren Aronofksy film.

“They were aware he was coming off ‘The Wrestler,’ and with Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, this was exactly the kind of film to fit the business plan we set up,” Oliver said.

At the end of the day, the only thing that’s really important is the quality of the film. However, its worth noting that if the film does well financially then it makes it easier for Natalie to get funding for any future projects.
