Sunday Tidbits

It’s time for a new weekly batch of tidbits:

-Usually, film critics associations announce their nominations and awards at the end of the year, but Los Angeles Online Film Critic Society has broken the rule, announcing their “mid-season” film awards nominees. Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther received the most love with seven nominations, but Annihilation has also achieved four mentions, including one for Natalie in the category of best actress. The winners will be known next week.

American Cinemateque Awards Gala

Natalie attended the American Cinemateque Awards Gala yesterday, in which Amy Adams was honored for her entire career. Tom Hanks, Jake Gyllenhaal, Denis Villeneuve, Michael Shannon, Chris Messina and Kristen Stewart were other guests of the tribute.

Natalie never has worked with Adams, but is still waiting for “the perfect buddy comedy” to come along for them, she said in her speech on the stage. She also said that she “traveled with Amy on the campaign trail” meaning the awards season track. “During these interviews that get repetitive, Amy said something that it was difficult to be an actress because you have to have a thick skin because of all things people say about you, but you have to have a thin skin and be vulnerable when you’re working. She maintains that incredible vulnerability when I see her”.

Zimbio has here and here several photos of the event:

This event dishes out honors to talent from all fields of entertainment, from stage theater to film, pop music to TV, and even traditional Chinese opera. The Huading Awards were founded in 2007; the nominees are selected by committee and the winners are chosen by popular vote over the award show’s website and other Chinese internet portals. Along with Natalie, other of the winners of this year are Bryce Dallas Howard, Hilary Swank, Mel Gibson and Sylvester Stallone. Zimbio and Daily Mail have a lot of photos from the event. These are just a few of them:

Natalie nominated at the SAG Awards

  • Post author:

Natalie has been nominated in the category of best female actor in a leading role for “Jackie” at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, alongside Amy Adams, Emily Blunt, Emma Stone and Meryl Streep. It’s difficult, but if Natalie wins here, she would be the first actress to win twice in this category in the entire history of the SAG awards (They started in 1995); it would be amazing…

This is Natalie’s reaction to the nomination:

I am very grateful for the recognition of my peers with this morning’s SAG nomination. I loved making Jackie so much, in large part due to the incredible actors our great director Pablo Larrain assembled. Greta Gerwig, Peter Sarsgaard, Billy Crudup, John Hurt, John Carroll Lynch, Richard Grant, just to name a few, brought such inventiveness and honesty to every moment. Pablo gave us so much freedom and inspiration to play. And that combination allowed us to show Jackie through the many different relationships she had, in many different lights.

The awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, January 29.
