Mathilda: Behind the scenes

To go with my previous update I thought you might like to take a look at some of the work that goes on before the final product.

The very first drawings are sketches to settle on the look of characters. For chapter 1 there were 16 PAGES of sketches.

This was the very first page:

These are two of the last pages, which should show how far things developed:

Then its time for the storyboarding to get an idea of the page breakdowns:

The second last step belongs to the pencil work, which, I think you can agree, looks great on its own merits:

The last step is obviously the inking, after which we then have our finished product. Piece of cake 😉
