If you haven’t heard yet, Variety have reported that next years Academy Awards will feature not 5 but 10 Best Film nominees. Thus, if Brothers is as good as we hope, its chances just got a hell of a lot better.

I’m kinda torn on this decision. On the one hand, every year there are totally deserving films that don’t quite fit the Oscar mold and this gives them a bit more of a chance to at least get some recognition on the night. But on the other hand, is this not watering things down a bit too much? The Golden Globes already try and pat everyone (well everyone that’s famous) on the back, and that’s more annoying than anything.

Guess I’ll have to see how it plays out.
