Thor Talkback

By November 9, 2013Uncategorized

Thor: The Dark World is now widely available, so I thought I’d create a comments thread where you guys can leave your thoughts about the film and Natalie. Spoilers are fine but please warn before you talk about any important plot details/surprises.

As for the box office, it looks as though it made around $30 million from Thursday night and Friday, so an opening weekend of $90 million looks about right. Not amazing but very solid and a big jump from the first film’s numbers. Dave Poland has an interesting analysis of the Marvel business plan, which he thinks is not as spectacular as many think.

I saw Thor:The Dark World today. It’s a fine movie although I was left wanting more. The film pace was fast, and as noted,it does not last two Hours which does not help in character development.Natalie has more screen time than in the first Thor, which no doubt will please Natalie’s fans,me included.Natalie plays an important role in the story.Make sure to stay until the end of the final credits, there is one Natalie final scene.
I would rate Thor The Dark World-8 out of 10.

I totally missed this thread when I first visited. I’m sorry I missed such an inflammatory discussion, lol.

Anyway, if you like the genre, the film is really good. In my mind, no superhero movie ever came close to the first 2 Batman from Christopher Nolan and this film is no exception, but it’s still much better than your usual blockbuster. The acting is very good, the female characters aren’t embarassing and the look of the film is much better than the first one. A few flaws here and there, most notably the main villain, prevents the movie from reaching the next level. Still, it belongs with Iron Man 1 and Avengers in the top 3 movies made by Marvel studios, 8/10 seems right.
